If biodiesel can be made from leftover cooking oil why do we need to grow corn to make it?

Currently, rainforests are being destroyed to grow sugar to make biofuel. Corn is being grown to make ethanol. Why? Biofuel can be made from cooking oil.

I'm looking for a steady supply of vegetable oil to make biodiesel.

I need any info on biodiesel i can get. how to make it, conversions to vehicle needed?

And info from people that make and use it. What kind of equipment needed and how much to get it all. I have a 2004 chevy silverado 3500 (6.6L duramax diesel) has anyone ever converted one of these and used biodiesel in one?
